California Convergence, a network of local community leaders and their partners, is a strong voice for change that makes community health possible, in face of rapidly growing rates of obesity, diabetes and preventable illness.

Join us!

California Convergence is a collective voice for policy and systems change to create health equity in neighborhoods through improved environments for healthy eating and physical activity.

Communities across California have been working hard to create healthier environments for kids, families and residents. Communities have revitalized parks, established farmers’ markets, taken sodas out of schools, made neighborhoods safer and more walkable.

Through California Convergence, communities work to ensure that all community members have access to healthy foods and safe places to play and be active; share tools and strategies; and create a strong voice for regional, state and federal change to support community goals.

California Convergence links communities in action, changing the environment for health, such as:

  • Baldwin Park (L.A.), bringing healthy foods to corner stores (Healthy Food Retail)
  • Chula Vista (San Diego), reclaiming Lauderbach park (Land Use/Climate Change)
  • Oakland, community use of schoolyards ( Joint Use)
  • Anderson (Shasta County), a rural Wal-Mart provides healthy foods (Healthy Food Retail)
  • Madera (Central Valley), addressing violence to make exercise possible (Violence Prevention)
